Well it really depends on what I'm trying to accomplish. In the 70s before I was 16 I chose BFGs for my father's vehicle for off-road use. Later in the 90s I got into ARB air lockers and Ox serviceable u-joints for strength so in those cases I started from the ground and drivetrain up. After I made a fatal mistake in deep water water with a straight 6 I put a snorkel on vehicle. Unfortunately that's an example of an afterthought.
