Default Anyone here make thier own mead?

Found a brew supply shop about 20 minutes from me now, and my local postal worker makes his own honey and its amazing. I'm thinking about getting started in the mead homebrew hobby. im gunna go there tomorrow get the basics, 2 glass jugs, stoppers, syphon, thermo, hygro, water seal/gas exchanger, some sanitizer and yeast perhaps.

Seen some youtube videos with starter directions and basic ingredients like orange slices and raisins. i'm curious if anyone can recommend thier own ingredients or modifications to the usual steps or tips tricks etc.

thanks all!

dabbled in college. had not the patience for the wait times. I would be better suited as a taste tester, so send all new brew here.

They brew honey mead in the west of England, beautiful taste but a bit too sweet for me.

I love good old pint of flat British bitter (no gas in it). I have acquired a taste for Bud, Schlitz and Peroni beers over the years but only in the summer though.

Whilst on the subject of mead, they also make 'scrumpy' cider https://www.google.fr/search?q=scrum...w=1163&bih=644 in the west country (Somerset, Devon and Cornwall) in England. The 'raw' stuff, which is in fact illegal (like moonshine) is lethal if too much is 'partaken' and causes a serious hangover, also mead can have a very similar effect.
