Default Beware of Craigslist Scammers

In the last week, I purchased a few things off Craigslist, cargo cover for 40.00, EBC rear rotors, new in box for 100.00. And so I setup my app to notify me of new listings for Land Rover. I received a notice and it was for a 2003 Range Rover for 2600.00. I responded, that i would like to view the vehicle. I got an email, explaining the vehicle was in an air force base in Nebraska, blah blah blah.
So I went to the Air Force Base Facebook site, and here is what i found.

Default Almost...

Got roped into one myself. I was looking for another Powerstroke but a CC instead of a regular cab. Some people just dump them on CL after sitting for a while in the back yard. So I replied to one and I put my phone number to illustrate legitimacy. Then I got a text from a gmail account in which the grammar was all wrong. Not like English is my second language wrong but just wrong. So I kindly said I had found something else. Then it was I'm in the military but on a base and it was my husbands and he died and it gives me bad memories etc.

Watch out. Seems like this the the scammers flavor or the month.

you mean the Nigerian Prince who's money was all tied up and only needed $10k to get it out; isn't real.

I have i guy on eBay selling my car, he just copied the whole add and photos and all. and re-posted it on eBay under his name.

Not cool. And no shame on these people.

I remember there used to be one going around that you would get an email with a letter saying that if you cash the check you keep the money and money gram me the difference. People got scammed and the banks would obviously bounce the check and they would be out the full amount plus fees.

Like there isn't enough to deal with in life.

What's the difference between a Craigslist scam and an Ebay scam .................................................. . not a lot .............................. same scammers but a different online site.

I wish I had a $ or £ for every scam I've seen online. (euros not accepted at present )

Seriously, I detest scammers as they are lowlife scumbags who extort cash from honest hardworking people rather than work themselves.

(I've seen more letters from Nigerian high ranking officials asking for help to get £millions out of Nigeria and all you have to do is give them your bank account details ........................... yeah, right )

I received an e-mail today purportedly from a pal I saw a few days ago and stating he was in the Ukraine and had been robbed of all his money, phones and credit cards and could I send him some money until he returns. The wording of the e-mail didn't ring true or sound like his e-mails. Ironically I had a cycle ride and lunch with this guy a few days ago and he never mentioned any trips to the Ukraine, soooooooooo, I called him up as he is local and he answered the phone and I asked him had he seen the e-mail, yep, he had along with many, many others, he'd been hacked by scammers.

He's now sorting the mess with MS and his ISP. I believe in always suspect the unexpected especially online.
