Default The culture thing

While saying "Aufwiederseh'n" / "Bye!" / "Tot-siens" / "Au revoir" for a while, to be in the home country for a while, I leave you with a few thoughts on culture.

Where I come from beer are for boozers, good coffee is rare (they only drink the plastic instant imitation stuff and I am taking a few packets of Sumatra Mandeling with me), and wine is NOT taken with breakfast. It however is much part of good food as salt is.

So here is to a good chuckle:

"A meal without wine is called Breakfast"

"To enjoy a good red at cellar temperature:
1. Open the bottle to let it breathe.
2. If, after 20 minutes it appears not to be breathing immediately administer mouth-to-mouth"
.

"In wine there is wisdom, in beer there is freedom, in water there is bacteria".

As a nation of hunters we know what to serve with the choicest cuts: "If it tries to trample you - serve it with a red - if it tries to flee - serve it with a white".

A road sign: "Wine is now cheaper than petrol - STOP DRIVING"
.

...and lastly, truly, on theback label of one of the best South African white wines: "Don't let this bottle serve as an inspiration to call your ex in a pathetic attempt to get back together. Some very fine grapes have died in the process of making and perfecting this wine, please show some respect".
