Default Discovery Insurance

So I'm about to buy my first Discovery, 04 SE, and am shopping around for insurance. Can anyone recommend a good insurance company with reasonable comprehensive rates?

Thats your job based on your record, age, the vehicle and where you live. It will be high cause most companies feel Discoveries can do a lot of damage to another vehicle.
Best get on the phone and start calling.

"Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there"

"Save 15% or more on car insurance by switching to Geico"

"You're in good hands with All State"

The best discounts usually come with loyalty, and insuring multiple things through that insurance company i.e homeowners, cars, motorcycles, atv's etc.

I have found it is best to find a local agent and not use a big box store name brand with lots of tv commercials and lizards and cute ladies dressed in white working at a grocery store type of place.
I have had the same agent for 15 years, I call a local number and talk to someone I know if I have a question.

Default Progressive or Geico for me

Im 33, no tickets or accidents, clean driving record. 2003 Discovery HSE. Some mods but I didn't tell them all of them. As in lift and aftermarket bumpers. Also I work from home less than 7000 miles per year, no daily commute.

$490 per 6 months Progressive Ultra preferred member full coverage. + have renters policy with them. (probably an additional discount)

$626 at Geico about 1.5 years ago now their quoate was closer to $550 2 weeks ago.

I call around about ever 6 months. All State, liberty mutual, and State Farm always seem high. But I dont have a home to insure, only auto.
My dad had Erie for a long time till they dropped us for a 2 cars totaled due to hail damage claim... way before my Rover driving days.

After reading this insurance topic yesterday!
I went looking at insurance rates!

I have had Geico since Jan 9, 2008
I have 2 cars to insure,
(1) 2001 Trans Am WS6 Conv.
(2) 2003 Disco SE7
I was paying $920 for 6 Months with Geico.
(about $460 each auto)

I have State Farm Insurance now.
Same cars as above mentioned.
I pay $656 For 6 Months
(about $330 each auto)

I hate to say this!
But you can save alot on your car insurance!
, for about 15 minutes work, I just saved $528 a year!!
I will need that $528 dollars for Disco II repairs!
(new driveshaft)

If you qualify to be a USAA member, they're the way to go. You can probably get cheaper policies, but you'll never get better service or value if you need to make a claim.
