I believe the French newspapers should maybe give prominence to the internal troubles France presently has, and their medium term future, in order to save themselves from ideological demise. That had already happened once with the "momentary monastery" before, did it not.

The French are the French ................. they approach their financial problems like the 'frog down the well' (excuse the expression) they can see daylight but can't/won't do anything about it (myopic vision). Having lived here a few years it becomes evident that nothing changes and as long as they have enough cash in their pockets to get by that's all that matters. Commerciality................forget it..................customer service...............forget it......................lunchtime................. .now you're talking their language.

I have to admit that France is an 'island' and totally introspective in every respect from commerciality to holidaying. The majority stay in France or French speaking islands. As for sorting out their financial situation even on the brink of recession once again I don't believe the rank and file even know or care. France and the French believe it's the centre of the universe or at least europe and the most important player in the EU. They'll never wake up and will continue living in the 19th or 20th century.

That bubble will burst in time when the new ideological world order has taken hold and France is the centre point - or so all pointers indicate. The changes will be big.

My direct ancestors are from the south of France but they fled 350 years ago and then first the Dutch en then the British did not allow them to speak French in their colony, so the language disappeared from my family 350 years ago

Nothing will ever change here MonteroMan, it's inbred into them. The government provides all, the 35 hour week, unions control everything, eating, drinking and talking are endemic and hard work is a dirty words. Politeness to customers and customer service is an alien concept. The concept appears to be 'we are doing you a favour letting you spend your money and buy goods in our shops' Nothing will change, believe me.

As a regular business visitor to Colorado I must say that Cabela's is working very hard towards this concept and mostly succeeding admirably.
