Default looking for good jeep forum

I know I know , long and short I am looking for a spare 4x4 for the wife in case the lr3 throws a fit in bad weather so she can still get to work not another woods truck

I used to build jeeps in the 90s so I am looking at stock yj jeeps , and I have some questions since its been a while and I know there is a huge difference between a good forum and a bad forum, I also know we have former jeepers here
Maybe someone can even explain to me how a person figures a rotted yj with rotted frame is worth 5k?
Let the ribbing begin lol

Why not just grab a sub-$1000 D1?

I see some cheap d1 near me but I can see they are neglected rotten buckets and I don't feel like doing all the work I did on mine all over again, that cheap d1 gets expensive fast

U know, fluids, joints, tires, brakes, radiator, hoses, gaskets, head job, wheel bearings, pump and filter plus all the ancillary things that need repair

Want small and lite cheap to drive easy to fix , not lifted

Hell I am even looking for an 80s Chevy truck and gonna sell my 01 dodge ram 4x4 diesel, going old tired of electrical gremlins and such

It is tempting since my fake camel is rotting away cause I want to eventually change everything to a rust free donor

Btw jeep people are insane what they think value on a rotted old jeep is, 3500 for 88 salvage title bad trans wtf, 2500 with holes in frame I can put my hands in, rotten buckets of crap here in n.j., but they also spray salt water on the roads in winter so guess to be expected

They are expensive here too. Xj's and YJ'S fetch top dollar. But at least here they aren't rusted out. You've never experienced awesome until you've worked on a rust free desert vehicle. I'm from the east coast so I know what you're dealing with. It sucks.
