2 years ago I started drinking 1 tablespoon of Braggs apple cider vinegar followed by a glass of water, 2 to 3 times a day.
As well as squeezing a lemon and drinking the juice every morning.
I have not been sick since.
1 1/2 years ago I started a ketosis diet.
I eat carbs and basically whatever I want for one day every 2 or 3 weeks, and right back to strict keto.
I had been hypoglycemic for almost 20 years, and that disapeared in the first week, and has not returned.
I will be 43 next month, and am more shredded than I was at 23. I have always been lean and worked out regulary, but cut 15 lbs, to 160-163(5'10", 30" waist).
I also cut my protien intake from 180-220 grams a day, to 80 to 100...and have More lean muscle mass.
Not everything works for everyone, but I feel great!
Most of all, I thank God for the health of my family, as well as my own.

Couple things I have experienced and learned over the years

cholesterol: all cholesterol starts off as good cholesterol, right. Now when your body is full of bad stuff and your eating crappy some of that cholesterol turns bad. Than your doc gives you pills to lower that. The protective layer in your brain is 95 % by weight Cholesterol You will destroy that if you start limiting and taking cholesterol pills
try it for yourself. I eat at least 3 eggs for breakfast 2 eggs lunch Soft boiled
I have a egg farmer that I get fresh eggs from cheap

Sipping on my fresh squeezed glass of lemon water as I read this!! I have also not been sick since I started this over a year ago... But then again before this I would usually only get sick once per year. I've been aware of food and diet effects since the mid 90's.

Though not a perfect eater by any means avoiding the processed foods, especially grains and sugars, has been key to me. I will admit however that I use the elimination of most carbs to justify drinking quality crafted beer.

Over the last year, work out every day. The cycle starts with a full workout (upper body, legs and abs), next day - upper body and legs only, next day - abs and back only, next day - full workout at elevated rate (to get heart rate up), next day - day off, next day - upper body and legs only, next day - full workout, next day - abs and back only...repeat until dead...lol.

On upper body and leg day...

Start with a set of fifty push ups and twelve different light lifts - 50 reps (very light - 3/5 lbs - not into building mass), six leg exercises, then finish with another fifty push ups and stretching.

Abs and back day...

Starts with fifty push ups and twenty different core abs/back exercises, then finish with another fifty push ups and stretching.

Full day...

Everything mentioned above combined.

Pretty much eat whatever, whatever amount or whenever l want. My wife is a healthy cooker and prepares dishes with that in mind. Me...if unsupervised...stuff garbage in my gut. Could live my life entirely happy dining from a gas station shelf...food really doesn't concern me, could care less about food. Normally, if my wife is away and has made food for me...l don't even take the time to warm up leftovers. If she doesn't leave me food...and since l do not cook at all...l just make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich or a bowl of ceral or have an apple or stop at the gas station on the way home. Do not eat fast food at all, probably been thirty years.

Ran track in high school and use to run five miles every other day up until l was 40...but just quit one day and haven't ran since. Rode a 12 speed bike on the off days and kept doing that even after giving up running...usually 20/40 miles...but quit doing that at about 50. Turned 60 a few months ago and l'm ready to quit doing something...but that should "probably" be the 4/5 cigars smoked each day...lol.

The running thing was kind of weird. Like l say, ran five miles every other day since high school and continued right up until the day l quit. Went out that morning, did my usual stretches, started running down the road...went about fifty yards and just stopped, stood there for a couple minutes wondering why l stopped, thought to myself..."just don't feel like doing this anymore"...and that was it...walked home...and haven't ran more than a few hundred yards since (this is the distance my wife can run weilding a broom stick).

l'm normally pretty healthy, rarely get a cold or flu.

Brian.

Back in the day, a friend and I traveled a lot together for work and had an ongoing competition to find the 'diviest' places to eat. Biker bars, gas stations, the worse they looked the more we were intrigued. It turned into a game we played, along with inspecting every gas station store shelf for the 'Old Nyquil' with the high alcohol content lol. Anyway, I never was too picky about food places until I heard the story about the guy out in California who ate the nacho cheese from a gas station and ended up dying from Botulism. That kind of stopped me in my tracks right there. I doubt that guy ever thought he'd die from eating nacho cheese from a gas station and I never in a million years thought I could die from playing a game!

I think Yogurt is the key to staying healthy. I ate it every day for breakfast last year with nuts and berries and never got sick. Stopped eating it this year and switched to steel cut oats with berries and have been sick 3 times! I think stress plays a large factor too so good to try to eliminate it as much as possible. These days it's not so easy though, is it? I'm having a big bowl of popcorn tomorrow night (with lots of margarine) because I just found out that my job has been furloughed until at least June

So both people without pay in our household now. Guess it's time to work on my Rover. That is, if I can afford it.

Stay healthy folks!

Guy from California just had a weak stomach...lol.

Oh yeah, the old Nyquil days. Funny story, years ago my dad had a bad head cold and was going on vacation, down south, didn't want to ruin the trip for the others going along...so he stocked up on several bottles of Nyquil. Well, he's drinking it right out of the bottle...never measuring amount or paying attention to the amount or how often. Second day into the trip and they take him to the hospital, because he feels really light headed, dizzy and having a hard time walking/standing. Dr. checks him out and asks what he's been taking for his cold. Dad tells him, and his method of doing so. Dr. says..."you aren't sick, you're drunk!"

Hard to enjoy something you hate.

Ever tried a martial art? Good workout and plenty of stretching. Was in Taekwondo for about five years, 21-26, really enjoyed the whole aspect. Actually use to workout in Sarnia, at Bluewater club and did some tournaments in various places in Canada. Took it up after giving up motocross, injury, and it filed the gap nicely...kind of competitive (if you like) or just a good workout with the benefit of being able to defend yourself. Thought it would be a good way to help me heal and strengthen my injury and l'd get back to motocross...but it never worked out that way. Finally came to my senses, somewhat, and decided double jumping over folks on Sunday and having to go to work on Monday...wasn't a good idea...lol.

Funny story...rode dirt bikes for years, motocross, trail rides, hill climbing, you name it. Anyhow, gave it up completely when l got into my late 40's. So, a couple years ago l'm coming home from a bird hunting trip up north, stop at the gas station to fill up, while there a motorhome pulls in with a trailer attached...filled with dirt bikes. Driving, is a guy about my age. I think...cool! And thoughts of me getting back into it surface on the exterior of my brain. While l'm daydreaming about a new two stroke and what brand l'd buy, the passenger (another guy about my age) exits the vehicle. He comes around the front of the motorhome, bracing himself against the hood as he does and you can see he is in a great deal of pain. He gets to the drivers door, opens it and helps him out. The driver, looks like a stale pretzel as he walks bend over looking at his feet to the fuel door...and is a great amount of physical pain also. The passenger heads off for the inside of the station and it takes him a good two or three minutes to clear the distance. It was just about then...that the image of me scrambling the backwoods of Michigan on a YZ490 evaporated from my view...lol.
