I have a "real" defender - 1994 90 NAS - I notice no new defender mall crawler owners ever wave or acknowledge my real defender - even in a small town - too busy checking their portfolio on the Iphone ?
What’s a “real” Defender - when you stop and think about it…?

Unfortunately for Mr. Smug (not going to @ him), there's a whole generation of equally smug people who would only consider series LRs to be "real" Defenders.
I was there when the Defender was launched and the howls of anguish from people who couldn't reconcile a "true Land Rover" with coil springs was crazy. And now their children and grand children get to carry on the good work of being smug trolls online and in person.
I'm guessing he wrote the original post while he was waiting for his floor mats to dry after driving in the rain, or possibly from the waiting room of his chiropractor after driving for more than 30 minutes.
Most likely because you have the attitude that most original Defender owners have towards the new Defender and therefore why wave at someone that despises your vehicle and refuses to aknowledge it as a Defender.
This same lame attitude comes with each new generation of model. I was around in the LR world when the Discovery came on the scene. At the time all the Series truck owners poo-poo’d it as a mall crawler, soccer Mom truck etc etc. It’s an unfortunate attitude that creates division within our very small, specialized community. I’m a Land Rover guy, as many of you are. I’ve owned just about every model over the last 30 years and all are welcome in my book. As they say….Cant we all just get along? 😉
Heres my current steed, just to **** the OP off. 🤣

Yep - which is why I asked what a “real” Defender was…
I drove my 97 for 9 years. Still own my 68. I’ve had my 25 for a few weeks now and love it.
“Real” is relative.

@disco96sd If this is how you feel, you should post it on your generation specific Defender forum, not here. I'm not so sure what kinds of feedback you like to get from this post in L663 but
you may get more positive feedback from there. And I highly recommend getting air cooled 911. You will like them.
I get excited when I see other Defenders and I wave them but I dont get mad or look down on them because they didnt wave me back.
It's just a thought from a fake defender owner. =)
