Roof Rack - Seeking Guidance

Roof Rack - Seeking Guidance
2003 D2. I've had the expedition rack, mounted to gutters.
What was Great
Problems:
Can anyone suggest a Roof Rack that:
And should it be aluminum or steel? Should it have a wind deflector? What's the best way to keep the jack up there?
Thanks in advance.
What was Great
- Solid mounting
- Lights mounts
- Looks like you mean it
Problems:
- Wind howls at 30 mph
- Too Tall when unloaded
- Gaps between bars let stuff fall through
- Hard to clean car roof
- Rust was starting to bubble up under paint
Can anyone suggest a Roof Rack that:
- Low profile (I don't think I really need a rail above the rack since I tie my stuff down, it's not going to roll off)
- Mounts to gutters
- Covers 1/2 the roof length
And should it be aluminum or steel? Should it have a wind deflector? What's the best way to keep the jack up there?
Thanks in advance.

Won't help with the sides (but I like the additional safety of them in the event a tie down fails) but if you install the farmtek flooring that will stop things falling between the bars.
You can fabricate an air deflector to help with the noise.
Any roof rack is going to make it harder to clean the roof.
For the hi-lift you can buy ready made mounts or make your own from pipe hangers, threaded rod, stop nuts, fender washers and wing nuts.
