Thoughts on the new Scout?
VW finally showed off the new Scout, and as a former multiple Scout owner my initial reaction is very positive.
They seem to have have really captured the lines of the Scout II, the propertions are good, you llok at it and know what it is and what it does. I might have liked it better if there was a ICE version, RX is ok but that version is probably going to add a lot to the cost.
My LR3 does feel like an old Scout, very solid, substantial, but with a lot more power than the old beast. Still, my Scout was tasked with sport and utility back from early 80's to late 90's, at which point the back had rusted out so terribly that the whole thing kind of tilted off to one side without the tailgate holding it straight....much like the RRC would do.
My update plans are more towards LR4 or big Disco, so I'm not likely to get involved with the new Scout. It's still nice to see the job they did with it.
Ford did a decent job with the 6G Bronco, and that one I did own for a couple years. Yeah that was fun but eventually we found ourselves back in Rovers.

Love the looks of it, especially the colorways. Not a big fan of the pickup version, but we did actually debate putting down the $100 deposit to show interest in the SUV. Excited to see reviews once they hit the road. Similar to you... I have a hard time separating from the JLR brand.
