Does anyone know what the deal is lately with the 'most users ever online' display? I couldn't sleep this morning and was putzing around and noticed that it stated the most users EVER online was this morning - 450 people at 1:50 am. That's quite the party at that hour. What did I miss?



The counter appears to be tallying the most people EVER online in a 2 hour window..

 

maybe I'll PM Disco Mike and he can answer my questions.. I think he's an administrator?...

awe shucks.. apparently no one else cares about such trivial things but to me it sticks out like a sore thumb. Am I the only one that noticed or do I...

You missed all the spam bots.
My website gets all sorts of traffic at off-hours. I have to delete thousands of spam accounts every week.

On a side note... A long, long time ago in a world far away there used to be a word named 'EVER' that meant 'at any time' or 'at any point'. Apparently (somewhere along the way) the word EVER has become synonymous with 'today' EVERyday EVERy 2 hours or so..

OH lookie.. apparently the most users EVER to be on the forum was today, at 12:22 pm...... not December 21st, 2014, or March 2, 2015 but today, EVERyday, EVERy few hours or so :



What is the world coming to????

There's really no issue here. Our sites get crawled by bots and servers alike at all hours of the day.

But I do recommend strongly listening to Taylor Swift for all ailments.

 

lol... that explains why I was listening to TS all last night I highly recommend the video 'I knew you were trouble' - gut wrenching prelude..

SO... doesn't anyone see the conundrum here? The word EVER suggests 'at. one. point.'....

not 3 times in one day. And how in the world can the second time be less than the third in the same day??!... (oh dear lord does anyone read my posts and actually look at the pictures..... and what in the world did I do with my rosary beads?)

are there hidden bots in there that mysteriously jack up the tally and the computer computes something that I cannot see? 450 at 8:00 pm is not greater than 750 at 4:00 pm.
