Window Regulator questions!
Ive been looking for a driver side window regulator for my Disco 1... Only problem is that everyone seems to be out of stock... My question is, is there really a big difference between the front left and rear left window regulators? Can i use a different window regulator and make it work/fit? Let me know Rover experts!!
Thanks

The front and rear are totally different. The D1 front driverside is the same electric regulator as the D2. I don't know whether the manual winder type is the same. try on eblag as there are plenty of new regulators advertised on there.
So I can use a d2 regulator in my d1? Sorry for being thick.
Yep. This is an excerpt from the ad:
Discovery - Series 1 - 1994 to 1998 From chassis MA137190
Discovery -Series 2 - 1999 to 2004
Hope that helps - I'm assuming it includes the manual regulators also but I not certain as mine are electric motor powered.

Actually, the way that ad is worded is deceptive. ALL 1994 and 1995 Discovery models UP TO VIN MA137190 used the same regulators as were found on the Range Rover Classic from 1987 through mid 1995. From MA137190 the front regulators are interchangeable all the way through 2004. Rear regulators for DI's are different than those found in DII's and are not interchangeable.
Motors were a different story. In typical Rover fashion, the early style motor (through VIN MA137190) was the same as those found in early Range Rover Classic models through 1989. In 1990 the Range Rover Classic got a different style connector. The Discovery style never changed so it is like the one found on Range Rover Classics from 1987-89.
The motors are the same from MA137190 through 2004 BUT the applications changed in the rear. By that I mean that while in the DI the left front motor worked as well in the right rear (and vice versa), in the DII the left rear was the same as the left front. More proof of sadism on the part of Rover.
