1973 Land Rover roof repair/replace
Hi, Thank you for reading my post.
I just joined the forum today and so this is my first contact. I am very pleased to have such a nice resource to turn to.
I have a very nice 1973 Series 111 88" land rover with only 60,000 original miles on it. My problem is that a 90 foot Oak tree fell on the driver's side rear corner of the roof. since I hardly ever drive off of my own property, I only carry collision insurance, so the damage is all mine to fix. Attached is a photo.
How can I repair this damage? Is there anyone who does such work, because I contacted several auto body shops and they all will not even try because Aluminum is so difficult to work with. I could purchase a whole new roof, but i found none listed anywhere.
Since the panels are basically flat, and only the top has a slight curve, would this be fairly easy to repair?
Your suggestions would be most appreciated, thank you and regards, gkenny.

Kenny, whereabouts in PA are you, I live 20 miles from Buffalo and Niagara Falls in New York State and I have an 88 roof surplus to my requirements.

I'm a big fan of car-part.com, but that is a rare vehicle for a salvage yard. There was only one result for a land rover roof, and it was a 72. It didn't say if it was an 88, but it said 2 door, so i'm guessing it is. They also didn't list a price...
Patterson Auto Wrecking, Inc. USA-PA(Cochranton) 814-425-741. Is that close to where you are?
