P38 STUPID QUESTION? Climate Control Icon.
Have 1996 P38 4.6. The Climate Control screen shows at times on the bottom right an icon I can't seem to find an explanation for in my manual -- what looks like an open book against an open book with an exclamation point next to it (for want of a better description). It comes on at different times and I'm sure there's a simple explanation but I'm too simple to figure it out!

Its the hvacs personal "check" light. The climate control system has registered a fault and is letting you know something is malfunctioning. Mine does this a lot, it does not necessarily mean anything is wrong, especially if the whole system operates like it is supposed to. I ignore mine and it seems to do just fine. The only thing I would be concerned about is if the system is low on refrigerant. If it is, then components could be damaged.

I completely rebuilt my HVAC system - all new blower motors, stepper motors, etc. Soup to nuts. Still get that testbook symbol every now and then. Sometimes I think it comes on when you have the dual climate control temp settings too far apart for the HVAC to actually produce those temps (I think the max difference is like 6 degrees or something)....
So, you could have something wrong, or you may not. Does everything work correctly? Both blowers? A/C? Recirculation? Vent settings?
