1995 rrc swb 3.9
What’s up ladies and gentleman?!
Purchased for $2k, passed block test, has new water pump, interior a B+, Exterior A-, runs and drives excellent, only problem is all the typical rot damage. One refurbishment shop want’s $100k to make it better than new however I bought it to be a beach cruiser. Shop #2 says they can fix all the rot for $15k. Shop #1 says shop #2 will not entirely fix the rot for $15k and it will come back down the road. Shop #2 also says, be ready for the engine block to crack at some point even though it seems to be in great condition now w/ 130k miles. I’m debating to punt the package or go through with the shop #2 $15k “rot only” refurbishment.
Thoughts?
Best,
Bill

The 3.9 is a very good motor and in my mind probably one of the most reliable of that engine family. I'd fix the rot, keep it and enjoy. If you decide to punt let me know I love RRC's
