Range Rover Evoque 2.0 Diesel – Glow Plug Faults after Replacement + Cable/Connector
Hi everyone,
I have a Range Rover Evoque 2.0 Diesel (Ingenium engine) and I’m currently struggling with glow plug fault codes:
Thanks in advance!
I have a Range Rover Evoque 2.0 Diesel (Ingenium engine) and I’m currently struggling with glow plug fault codes:
- At first, I had errors on cylinder 1 and 3.
- I decided to replace all glow plugs (cylinders 1, 2, 3 and 4).
- While removing the connector from cylinder 4, it broke because it was very rusty.
- In addition, the cable to the cylinder 4 connector was almost completely black inside.
- I cut the cable back to about the fuel filter area (there it was nearly copper-colored, but still slightly brown) and renewed it with a new connector and cable.
- Since then I have the following situation:
- If the new connector on cylinder 4 is plugged in, I get Range/Performance fault codes on all four cylinders:
- P06B9 (Cylinder 1 Glow Plug Circuit – Range/Performance)
- P06BA (Cylinder 2 Glow Plug Circuit – Range/Performance)
- P06BB (Cylinder 3 Glow Plug Circuit – Range/Performance)
- P06BC (Cylinder 4 Glow Plug Circuit – Range/Performance)
- P06B9 (Cylinder 1 Glow Plug Circuit – Range/Performance)
- If the connector on cylinder 4 is not plugged in, I only get:
- P0673 (Cylinder 4 Glow Plug Circuit Open).
- P0673 (Cylinder 4 Glow Plug Circuit Open).
- If the new connector on cylinder 4 is plugged in, I get Range/Performance fault codes on all four cylinders:
- I have already replaced the glow plug control module.
- Do the glow plugs on the Ingenium engine need to be relearned/reset in the ECU after replacement (similar to injector coding)?
- Or is the problem more likely related to the renewed cable/connector, possibly due to high resistance?
Thanks in advance!
