Default 2 zone a/c question

We recently upgraded from an '07 L322 HSE (without the dual a/c feature) to a 2011 HSE with the rear seat a/c unit. My question regards the button on the front console panel which turns the rear unit on and off. The '07 had the same button but only controlled the rear console fan, if the switch was on rear seat passengers could further control airflow to their liking...all made sense!
Now the 2011 with the dual zone system basically works in a similar fashion...BUT, the front console master switch controlling the rear a/c always defaults to ON with every engine start! So you need to toggle the front switch off every time you start up and drive without people in the rear seats. Is this Normal??? Doesn't seem so to me.
I have thoroughly gone through the owners manual and all the factory information on Topix and have found no info regarding if it is normal operation or not.

Is this the way it works for others with the front & rear a/c system?
TIA,
vikingdrvr

BUMP:
With all the L322 owners on this forum, I'm surprised that no one else has a RR equipped with the rear a/c unit and could comment or advise on the workings of theirs.
My vehicle must indeed be a very rare spec-ed model.

I think I know what you’re talking about. The vents in the back would auto come on for me until I looked on the back of the console where the controls for the back seat are and turned the **** to OFF. The button in the front stays on, but the back doesn’t automatically come on anymore.

Thank you for the reply!

Yes, even with the rear a/c controls off, the button in the front stays on, that's what I've always found odd...but if you experience the same then I suppose it's normal...a little non-sensical, but normal! Thanks again, Tom
