🅗🅔🅛🅟: put bit of Coolant in Oil Reservoir. RR L405 Autobiography LWB
2015

So am prepping for a RoadTrip to Russia 🇷🇺 from UK 🇬🇧(circa 7000mile round trip)

Was getting a rear bumper respray and noticed a reservoir bottle looked empty - mentioned to one of guy in workshop and he said he’d top it up.
he proceeds to put coolant in and then his mate tells him - that’s not for coolant.
they drained it immediately and retooled up with oil.

I drove to landrover main dealer next day for a visual health check for the road trip and they said:

⛔️⛔️⛔️⛔️⛔️⛔️
“DYNAMIC RESPONSE RESERVOIR CONTAMINATED SEE ATTACHED PICTURES - SUSPECT BEEN FILLED WITH WATER - FULL NEW DYNAMIC RESPONSE SYSTEM REQUIRED”
(Power steering oil and front suspension etc)
at a cost of £20k 😱

After much hassle, I managed to actually get to speak to the engineer, and he told me Land Rover don’t flush systems. Hence quote for a total replacement of many parts. He suggested an independent may do it.

𝐌𝐲 𝐐𝐔𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍:
Is if it was not much coolant in there and the landrover specialist (they do a lot of range rovers) suggested flushing 2-3x
And only driven minimally in lower temps (below 12egC 55degF)
Would it be safe to drive or is it as F’d as the landrover dealer said?

I’m hoping that the suggestion of a £20k replacement was Landrover's main dealer scaremongering 🤷🏼‍♂️ And it truly can be fixed?

thoughts?
🙏🏼

Flush is all it needs- considering the vehicle was not driven or motor cranked while the water was in the motor. If they immediately drained it and did not drive- 2 to 3 flushes with a drive cycle for each should flush the remaining condensation out without damaging anything. I would make the shop that made the mistake cover the flushes if you don't want to pay- but then again- I would not have much confidence in their work at this point. This is exactly why I service my own RR- as I don't trust any shop or LR dealer...
