Transmission Fluid
Has anyone found a write up for the transmission service? I know Porsche and others use this trans in the Cayenne and audi, but i am not able to find a write up.
Thanks,
Thanks,
I was hoping to find a nearly step by step write up. There is something about a fill and running through the gears to get to a temp and rechecking. Is there such a thing a service manual, or it may not be as complicated as I think, but thought if it were out there it would be a good reseource.
Have a search of YouTube. Plenty of good [and some not so good] guides to changing the fluid and filter on the ZF 8HP76 and older six speed variants. Some make it sound like rocket science, but it’s not. LR Time have great videos on this and the Disco4 is almost identical to L405. I changed my fluid, not the filter, at 55,000 miles and intend doing the fluid plus filter at 100,000.
In the meantime I have all the fluids and engine oil filter necessary to do an engine oil and filter change plus transfer box and two axle diffs at 60,000 miles, which will be by the end of this month [November ’25]. Nearly exactly on its fourth birthday.

Since the last post I’ve changed the engine oil and filter. With sucking the oil out of the dipstick, this was the easiest such service I've ever done, and I’ve done hundreds. I have the latest D300 Ingenium engine so the filter is at the top just behind the radiator. Didn’t need to bend down and didn’t even get my hands dirty. Still to do the transfer box and axles. I wonder how the OP got on with his ZF fluid change?
