Default Code Readers p38

What are the P38 guys using to pull codes on these? I want to be able to diag the climate control and if possible program new keys.

RSW? Nano com? Others?

I have RSW and Nanocom. They both work great. I’ve never heard of Autel being compatible with this generation of LR. The Nano is more comprehensive and easier to use than RSW, but it’s considerably more expensive.

Of course Autel should be able to do engine/OBD2 functions, just not the LR specific items.

I was shocked the old school autel came up with nothing lol. It worked for D2 ABS. I emailed RSW to see if it could do keys waiting to hear back also learning that is a whole other issue with these though

Soon after I bought the P38 (7 years ago) I bought the RSW software. I think it was less than $200. After I bought the D2, I needed a code reader (RSW doesn’t work on Disco). Since I already had the P38, I thought I could justify the cost of a Nanocom (for 2 vehicles). It has been great, but in reality after 7 years in the P38 I haven’t had any issues that RSW wouldn’t have been able to sort out.

I would probably order the RSW but I haven’t heard back from them at all on my questions. May just buy the Icarsoft LR version 3.0

It’s quite possible that he’s not doing that anymore. It was just a sideline of his. I don’t think he really made any money at it.

Yeah I kinda figured that might be the case, I guess as I’ll bite the bullet and do the icarsoft as the nano com doesn’t make sense with it being vinlocked much like the gap and i need one that can do the rover systems on multiple trucks reliably

Nanocom Evolution is not VIN locked. It is not as comprehensive as the VIN locked one (I forget the name), but after 7 years it’s done everything I have needed for my D2, P38, and my Son In Laws TD5 D2.
