Dead RRS 5.0 - Any Ideas?!
Hi,
Yesterday my wife was driving and it started running very rough, the Reduced Performance light came on and she said she started seeing white smoke and shut it down. I swapped cars with her and tried to start it. Engine turned over just fine but would not start. Could smell gas but absolutely would not fire. Had to leave it overnight. In the AM it did try to start but was extremely rough and trying to stall, white smoke pouring out all over, raw fuel smell. A few more attempts to get it running and the battery died. Charged battery overnight but now when I put the battery back in I get nothing but a click from the starter solenoid and it dies. Dash still saying low battery. I'm wondering if all that cranking may have overheated the starter as I'm sure the battery is charged fully. Getting it towed home to evaluate further. Scan codes were all p30x for all cylinders misfiring but nothing else. Timing chains were done last fall. I cleaned the throttle body and mafs but all looked decent. Fuel pressure when I turn on ignition only reached about 60-70 lbs and drops right back to zero again. When it was cranking previously it did reach 1700 to 1900 lbs so I'm figuring HP fuel pumps are good but it seems strange that fuel pressure drops back down so quick. Stuck injector maybe? Any thoughts would be appreciated!!!
