Exclamation Possessed Range Rover Cruise Control

I have a 2007 Range Rover and recently the cruise control will turn itself on and proceed to speed up. It usually happens when I'm on a small city street and don't want to speed up, but it just turns from off to on and lurches forward like it wants to run at full speed. It is very unsafe. Any ideas on what is causing this or how to fix it?

You could start by removing the CC buttons and cleaning the contacts. They are notorious for this issue, and removing and checking the buttons may clear it, or you may find that you have a broken/weak wire to one of the buttons. The process is a relatively simple and certainly diy fix. Let the vehicle go to sleep (20-30 mins). Disconnect the battery. Remove the drivers air bag (make the tool from a wire coat hanger - it takes a bit of fishing around). Remove and disconnect airbag. Disassemble the CC switches, look for any small breaks and check the condition, etc. Reassemble. If that doesn't clear it it's possible that the clock spring is on the way out, which is again relatively easy to change.

Plenty of good guides on YT on how to do all the above. Powerful UK have a good video on removing the airbag (I think it's on a video about changing a steering wheel - relatively easy to find on their channel).

Thanks, pagoda. I'll start there.
