Rear Power Liftgate Doesn't Power Lift
I've read threads similar but they are not clear to be the same issue I have. My 2013 has a single, power rear liftgate. It will unlatch when pressing the fob button or the exterior button above the license plate but it does not start to raise. If I pull it up 10" or so while pressing the button, it will take off. Similarly, it will close by pressing the button but doesn't complete and I get the open door message on the dash, but it visually looks closed. I give it a little push right as it gets to the bottom of travel and it will be fully closed and latched. Rover dealer said it was weak power struts but I'm not positive I buy that since it will not start the raise unless manually assisted and then it seems to turn on. It sort of seems like it doesn't try to lift until partially open. They may be accurate still because it doesn't close with force enough to finish. Any experience out there? Is it really just the struts or something different or multiple issues? I am considering a DIY repair. Thank you for your thoughts!
