Range Rover Sport Tire Options

Range Rover Sport Tire Options
Hey all- I’ve searched my heart out but am finally left with a question I could use all of your expert guidance on. I’m a newb to modern LR’s so appreciate all of your help immensely.
I recently came into a new to me 2017 RRS td6 HSE. It is currently running the OEM black 22” rims.
I spent a lot of time on forest roads and in the mountains hunting this year and have so far gotten 2 flats. To be expected- I ain’t mad or anything - the car isn’t set up to be off of a paved road when it’s bone stock like it is.
I want to keep it as close to stock as possible as it has low miles and is a daily driver, but I do need more offroad resiliency.
I’m wondering with my current rim (22x9.5) and tire (275/40/22) set up, what my best options are for giving this thing a little more...range.
I could drop down to a 20 inch rim which seems to have a lot of A/T tire options, but I’d love to not spend on rims and tires.
Can I reasonably fit a 275/50(or 55)/22 on the car with minimal issues? I know it will affect my computed readings like distance travelled and odometer which I’m a little worried about, but do I need to have any concerns about transmission or other? I’m sure I could fit the above tires on with a small lift, but if I could get away with it without that I’d like to try. Any reasons I shouldn’t?
I was never such a worry wart about the old D2 which I could throw whatever tires I wanted on because it was the adventure car, but as since thats bit the dust and this is a pretty big investment just trying to minimize my chances of screwing things up.
thanks in advance for any and all advice.

I have a 2020 disco 5... but I grabbed an extra set of the 20s off of a range rover sport for $400 on ebay and threw $120 worth of amazon tpms and then 275/55r20 bfg ko2s on them as my spare set of wheels. The same set up would work on yours... i swap between the stock 20s on pirellis and the rrs 20s with ko2s depending on what my wife wants on it... she seems to prefer the ko2s lol

275/45r22s are essentially the same size. They work on the disco without lift rods but we typically install the lift anyway.
