Windows Fogging Issues
We are in the middle of a huge winter storm, snow, ice, cold!! I went out and about, the 2018 Velar had been parked in the Garage. Everything was great while traveling. I stopped at a store, shut down the car and went shopping for 15 minutes. When I returned the windows were fogged up, I couldn't drive, I had to start the car and sit there until I could safely see out. Anyone have any suggestions. Why is everything so difficult with this car??
My only guess could be the snow from your shoes melting, then that meets hot air, and the moisture fogging the windows. Something having to do with the air temperature inside the car v the outside air temp and the two colliding with moisture thrown in. I don’t really know actually but it sounded legit in my head. If it isn’t that, then it’s just the fact that 95% of most current day Land Rovers are junk and you probably have a crack or gap somewhere allowing cold air to enter the vehicle and mixing with the warm air that would be inside from driving to the store.
does this happen every time you drive it?

Thank you so much for your response!! First off you are right, we believe that this car is a piece of junk!! We can't wait for the lease to be over.
You have helped more than you know. I showered and dressed just before leaving the house so your thoughts about moisture in the car was most likely right on.
I don't remember being out in this kind of storm before and in fact I don't remember in the almost two years we have had the car that I've had to keep hitting the windshield and rear window defoggers.
Thank you again for you insight!!

Well if its was fogged up before you go in, that a little odd. But countless times I have gotten into a vehicle when wet from rain or covered in snow and my windows would fog. Even my BMW with double-paned windows could. Its simple physics of warm and now very moist air hitting the very cold glass. Once the interior humanity drops or the interior temp rises enough to warm the glass you are good to go. On older vehicles it was often recommended to use the AC in winter to help dehumidify the cabin air a bit, even if the controls are set to warm. Of course in defrost mode AC usually always operates. Modern vehicles have such odd HVAC systems now but most operate the AC automatically. The simplest way to prevent this is to get as much snow off yourself before getting in - not always practical, but it helps a lot.
Thank you for the great information, very helpful. The car was not like that when I got in but after my first store stop for shopping and when I got back in it was like that. I've determined that maybe it was me. I had showered and dressed very quickly before I left and it was after the first stop that it was fogged up. I think maybe it was that. I've never had that happen before in any car but hey, maybe the conditions were just right.
I appreciate you taking the time to help out!!

Scenario 2:
Your car was hotter inside (as you were driving it to the store) and when you opened the door to get out, the cold moist air entered the vehicle, mixed with hot air of inside and condensed causing foggy windows.
If you don't understand simple physics you're most likely to blame the vehicle.
The best solution for the foggy windows is to turn on the windshield defroster if your vehicle is equipped with it. if you have the heated steering wheel then you will have the electric heated windshield. When my windshield fogs up on a cold day this usually clears the issue in under a minute.
