2004 Land Rover Discovery2
4.6 V8, 122k original miles
Clean Va title.
Black on black.
All wheel drive with center locking differential.
Project, Not Running, engine is out.
Transmission, drivetrain, body, interior are all in good condition.
3 cylinder sleeves leaking coolant, common 03/04 D2 problem.
Needs block from 4.0, 99-02,
as they did not have casting flaws. Block and bore are the same, the extra .6 liter in the 4.6 comes from extra stroke.
ALL internal parts of the 4.6 have been measured and are in spec.
Including New Crower cam, lifters, Bosch injectors, remanufactured heads(old heads are useable and included), new crank, rod, cam bearings, timing chain, timing cover, and all can be transferred to another block(it has new rings, but I would buy new ones for another block).
New Gates waterpump, Doorman fan and fan clutch, new power steering pump, new power steering box, new steering shaft(drives like new now), new radiator, new belt, hoses, coolant tank and thermostat.
New LR brake booster and master cylinder, 4 new rotors and pads(surface rust from sitting), new front driveshaft.
New factory cat back exhaust, stock catalytic converters are good. Cold AC, still connected and charged, compressor currently sitting in airbox.
New airbox lid and duct hose. New windshield trim(not installed)
Radiant barrier on back half of interior under carpet.
20" Range Rover wheels with good tires. UltraGage, multifunction and mainly for accurate temperature monitoring.
Too many new parts to list, boxes of stuff. D1 trans pan with dipstick, as D2 does not have one.
All engine parts, bolts, etc are bagged and labeled.
Truck is in good shape, drove perfect.
Over $7k in new parts alone! New parts, not labor cost. Not including what I paid for it.
I have been working on it on and off over 2 years.
It needs a block. A 4.0 block, plus engine gaskets and fluids.
It needs a windsheild, as it's cracked and won't pass inspection. Safelite is $220 for regular, or $420 for heated, which this came with. Transfer case drips, but I have new seals.
Both sunroofs work, and do Not leak.
Everything electrical works.
I have the battery on a charger, and a Nanocom(Land Rover diagnostic tool, does Everything dealer can, even program keys. The Nanocom was $450, and may be included, depending upon the deal). I can put the battery in and show that everything works.
It has an ugly rust spot on the passenger side rear of the frame, behind the axle, around where the vin is stamped.
It is not rotted through, I smacked it repeatedly with a ball peen hammer before buying it, and it's solid.
No other rust spots anywhere. No body damage.
I know people here know their D2's, and I have nothing to hide.
I will eventually fix it if no one wants it. But, thought I'de offer it and see what You may be wanting rid of to trade.
The shortblock on a stand in my garage, parts on my workbench, boxes of parts in my basement, the space in my driveway, and the D2's incredible appetite for money, has had me burned out on it for a while. So...here it is.
Fix it, part it out, whatever.
This will be a great ride again for about a grand in parts.
I am tired of spending money on it at the moment, so thought I'de post it and see if anyone is interested in it.
I would consider trading it for a sportbike, stuntbike, street legal dirtbike, 4 wheeler, truck, car or ? Let me know what you have to trade.

You can see the one crack in the front bumper in the pics above.
Rear bumper and All of the body, fenders, hood are good, no damage.
Paint is really good all over, it shines, just needs washed.

 

After several local offers from CL, I've decided to fix and finish this thing.
I ordered a used and tested P38 block, and all the engine gaskets to rebuild it.
Hopefully running and driving by spring, lol.

 

Ok, I'm considering getting rid of this thing again.
Since the above ad I have gotten a good 4.0 block, and have the 4.6 crank, Crower cam and timing chain in the block.
I have Everything to make it run and drive...everything.
The ac is cold and everything worked.
The windsheild is cracked.
The sunroofs work and do Not leak.
The frame behind the rear axle is rusted and rotten on both sides. The rest of the frame is fine.
The truck has a clean Va title and 122k miles, with Alot of new parts.
I work on it as I find time, then it sits for months again.
I get tired of walking around all the parts in my basement and garage, only to know that once I get the engine back in...that I still need a frame or donor truck with a good frame...and that much more time to work on it.
The lack of time to do much with it kills my motivation.
So, here I am back wanting to know if someone wants to make me a cash or trade offer to get it out of my way(I can regret it later).
I'll pack it full of boxes of parts, and you haul it away.
Taking any and all offers, worst I can say is no.
Anyone??
