I can certainly relate to that- the D2 was my dream car for many years before I could afford one. In fact, the D2 is what drove me to _be able_ to afford one. It motivated me to make more money in a way that nothing else could. In many ways, even though I'm moving on, the D2 still IS my dream car, because other than it's less-than-stellar-engineering, it really is the perfect balance of luxury and ability. My friend just bought a 2009 Jeep Liberty. And when he got in my 2000 D2, he said "Wow.... I feel like a whole new man sitting behind this wheel". And, you really do. The D2 is magic...
How much are you looking to spend?
I will have mixed feelings about letting my Disco go. On one hand, I KNOW it's the best 2000 Disco out there. But on the other hand, I'll feel like complete dog poop if the buyer has any problems with it.
I know how it feels to have problems right after you buy something, because my 2004 took me through the ringer (the oil pressure light illuminated on the way home [edit: on the way home FROM THE DEALER, that is- it's fine now, with its new engine, oil pump and all]... and I bought it with 27,000 miles on it!!).
Anyway, I'd prefer to sell this 2000 to someone who wouldn't be 'screwed' if it took a dive. That said, I am very confident it could be driven for the next 3 years with nothing done to it but oil changes.
