I was looking at this. Looking for an LR3/4, but this popped up and looks interesting. Having a hard time justifying this over those newer models though. If I'm not specifically into the DIsco II, do you think there's an argument to made for this over an LR3 or 4? Let's say similar mileage, maintenance, etc. across the board, a couple thousand more for the newer ones. This is certainly friendlier to my price range at purchase, but is that going to be eaten away at with maintenance down the road? I also really like the look of the LR3/4 for sleeping in...

I would check over that rear frame with what looks like fresh paint very very carefully. Since that is a prime rot spot for the D2

LR4 is a disaster in waiting. Do a search on Jaguar or Land Rover 5.0 liter engine. They are having some serious issues with those - $14k for a replacement. LR3 is better, but way more complicated that D2, No fix for cracked Dash exist, if you do have serious engine issues they are much more complicated to repair, and expensive.
