Well after months of research and phone calls, I have a source for a compatible replacement. I have bought and installed this touchpanel on my LR3 and it works great. If interested email me and I can provide you pictures and more details and pricing. All transactions will be done via Paypal or if you need one I can post it on ebay if you are more comfortable doing it that way. Trust me, this is a cheap fix and easy to do. It will cost a little over a hundred dollars plus shipping. Much better than buying a whole new unit.

it was quite simple once i found a suitable replacement screen. there are about 15 or so screws to remove from the nav unit ..it is very module. Once apart, use a fishing line to slide behind the exising screen to cut thru the "sticky" holding it to the LCD. Center the replacement over the LCD, plug in the 4 prong ribbon cable..and presto..working nav unit..the screen i found is about 1/8 inch smaller L x W, but it works just like the original at a fraction of the price.
