Wanted to say hi. Former owner of a 1987 D90.
Sold her a couple months back and purchased a 2001 Disco II from what I thought was a trustworthy seller LOL
Yeah, that didn't go so well. So I am weighing my options and looking for guidance.
Here is what I copied from what I posted on the Defender Sources forum

Hey everybody, hope this finds you all great
A couple months back, I joined to sell my 1987 D90 and I did So, thank you DEFENDER SOURCE for the resources.
I then purchased a 2001 Disco II for my wife to drive to get us through the winter. I thought I had bought a fairly reliable vehicle from a fairly honest guy... LOL
I DID NOT
So, I purchased her for $4K, put 5 brand new tires on her and purchased the new brake and rotor kit for the front. Installed etc....
While I was performing the brake job, I noticed that the lower bolt on the passengers side caliper wasn't even tightened and loose by about an 1/8"... I mean... seriously... sticking out..
So flash forward to 3 weeks ago. Drop a cylinder and CRAP!!!!
Went to my trustworthy mechanic and he suggested to get rid of it or spend the money on a rebuild....
THOUGHTS? SUGGESTIONS?
WRONG FORUM :shrug
Thanks in advance
PERFECT WORLD: I find a shop that will either rebuild or swap the drive train with ..... well..... a reliable and warranted drive train

I would love to sell it ALL.... OUTRIGHT for $2500 ??????
5 new tires with 50 miles on them @ $1,125
1 new rotor and brake pad kit for front end @ $187
and then the rest of the vehicle for $1300 LOL

I have not checked as of yet. I am going to though. I will check with Trail Head 4x4 as suggested here on the forum
I have seen used 4.0's for $700-$1500 and have had ballpark costs of $1500-$2000
with one guy saying he'd do it for $600
But.... the LS swap seems the way to go for long term.

it was a stock disco 4.0 so I didn't need to do anything other than pull bad out and put the new one in
