Default Rover 4.0 Long Block

4.0 liter long block new stretch bolts, remanufactured heads w/ valve job. New head gaskets.

This Short block was purchased 2010 from RN for 5k. The motor went into a 95 LWB owned by Congleton Racing and Restoration. 25k miles later, CRR scrapped the vehicle due to its corrosion levels. CRR cleaned motor, disassembled heads and remanufactured. CRR reinstalled heads and valve train after inspecting and using all new hardware. ALL valvetrain components have only 25k miles on them. Only Amsoil ever used on motor, changed every 3,000 miles or less, virtually no valvetrain wear is the result.
Motor has NEVER been allowed to overheat. Motor has never been used for towing. Light duty mileage has led a very charmed life for a motor no expense spared.

95 LWB which is a distributed block, though it doesn't matter at this level.

So the difference isn't in location necessarily, it's the plate that the CPS mounts to. This is a gems.

The Bosch and Gems use different CPS systems. Here's some links that should help:
Frankenrover - Swapping a Bosch D2 4.6 engine into a GEMS D1 Land Rover Discovery
Converting to Bosch From Gems - Land Rover Forums - Land Rover Enthusiast Forum
They can be converted, but it does require a little effort.

As for the engine having a distributor initially, I think the only difference is a gear on the camshaft so just using the appropriate intake and timing cover should be enough to make it work. Also, make sure you don't need secondary air if you want to use this block.
