Default should I sell it or part it out?

95 Landrover discovery. 5 speed manual 3.9 140,000 miles. Tires no good, front sunroof sealed shut, 2nd gear grinds so I double clutch, typical oil leaks, xfer case does not engage into full 4X4, front seat needs replaced other leather seats are good. Dash bad but has a good dash cover. Have advertised locally for 1795.00 so far no takers. How well would I do parting it out? Use it as a daily driver, drives good besides the problems mentioned above. Has new windshield, new exhaust, new clutch. tell me what u think? Situated in Billings, Mt.

You can check out eBay rover dismantlers to see what you can get for various pieces (motors, regulators, etc.), and classifieds here for other stuff like rims. Once done parting all the little stuff you can talk to a metal recycler to handle the aluminum body panels for some bucks as well.

I'm guessing $1800 is a soft number, or is the 5 spd driving the price? I ask because I figured the value at around half of what your asking.

If you have the knowledge and don't mind the time/labor of wrenching, cleaning up parts, taking pics, posting online, answering questions, collecting payment and shipping parts, go for it! I've done it with Jeeps and learned a lot plus made some extra scratch. You might be able to net $1,800 parting it out; but figure a few weeks (months more likely) at least to get it down to the bare body and rails.
Do you have the room (a garage/shed where it can sit for a while)?
Do you have the tools?
Do you have the time?
Do you have the patience?
Would you prefer a lump sum now or possibly a little more later and in small increments?
