Default ARB Crush Can Mounts for 99-02 DII ARB Bumper

Hey guys I picked up a99-02 ARB bumper on the cheap. It had been in accident and the crush cans have been bent. I was wondering if anyone on here had a pair they could sell?

Would like to find something here in the states before resorting to order from Australia.

Most people who are winch savy will tell you not to mount a bumper and or winch to the factory crus cans but straight to the frame the the support you really want and need.

How easy is it to mount to the frame? Won't that effect the air bag?

You'll need to either fabricate new cans that won't crush, or modify the existing cans so that they don't crush.

On crush cans, and how they work:

When you get into a collision, the crush cans are meant to attenuate some of the impact energy being imparted to the chassis in a collision. They absorb that energy by deforming upon impact.

On airbag sensors, and how they work:

The airbag sensors are affixed to the body, and measure the amount of energy imparted to the vehicle chassis during a collision. When a particular, very carefully calculated threshold is met by two or more sensors, the airbags are commanded to fire.

On how airbag performance is affected by eliminating, or hardening the crush cans:

Without crush cans, or with crush cans that no longer "crush", when a collision happens, there is no attenuation of the impact energy being imparted to the chassis. Because the airbag system isn't calibrated to function in this case, the end result is your airbags aren't going to fire when they are supposed do. This doesn't mean that you're going to impale yourself on your steering column in an accident, but it does increase your risk for injury in an accident where you need your airbag to fire, or worse, in an accident where the airbag normally wouldn't have fired. Nevermind that if your insurer finds no crush cans where there once were after a loss, they're not going to be too happy with you.

We're all grown ups here who make our own choices, but hopefully this is enough of an explanation for you to make a decision that you're comfortable with.

I've been trying to find a fab shop around town that could make me new crush cans and have yet to find one. i would like to keep the crush can feature.

ARB is quoting me $75 for each one, plus shipping.

I did find a body shop that would be willing to "bend" the old crush cans back in place. But that it would require installing the bumper and putting the truck on a "frame" machine or something. That just sounds like a recipe for ****ing something up to me so I'm not doing that.

Plenty of genuine crush cans ($30/pr) in good shape but nothing from ARB or any other aftermarket bumper manufacturer.
