Default California Compliant Catalytic Converter for Land Rover Discovery SD 4.6 Series II

I know it's a long shot, but thought I would try. If you have this for sale, or know where I can purchase one it would really help me out. Thank you. --Ken Jones, LT, USN

Sorry trying to type on my iPad. So, I'm a knucklehead. I purchased the Rover in Washington state.... love my LR and dumped a lot of money into it to include a Magnaflow cat and muffler. Now, I get stationed in CA (military) and it failed the smog test bec it doesn't have the factory cat. No one makes an aftermarket cat for an 02 4.6 Disco. My only option is the dealer at 2400.00 :-( I called Magnaflow and the dealer and they confirmed. If I purchase an 04 Magnaflow cat, will that fit/work for an 02? Will it pass emission then? The reason why I'm really beating myself up is because the car was registered in CA before being moved to WA and had a CA cat already installed which I removed to install the Magnaflow. Now it looks like I'm down 2400.00 unless someone on here has another option.

For some reason the 2003 D2 was given ULEV emissions status and the 2004 just regular LEV emissions status, so even though everything is identical, the 2003 cannot use aftermarket cats in California, but the 2004 can. This is crazy because all D2 in the US came with the exact same cats from the factory, even the ones without SAI (LEV).

http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermk...ftermktcat.htm

There is a link to a database of approved aftermarket cats. There are a bunch listed for a 02 DII. Walker is one of the mfgs. They are universal cats. You will need to have the old ones cut out and these welded in.

There are walker cats that are listed for both 2002 and 2004.
