I'm in the market to purchase an 03-04 Disco. I'm in located in the Northern Virginia area. I'm willing to travel to purchase it or look at the car. Preferable colors are silver, grey or white. I would consider any other colors too. Looking for any Disco's under 100k miles, but would consider any Disco's for the right price.

Pay a little extra if you have to and get an '04, you want the CDL. If you do get an '03 make sure its not from the bad VIN range.

rj95lss- For some odd reason I'm not having much luck with any 04's. I just read today about how many 03 Disco's are notorious for the oil pump failure leading to a total engine replacement, kinda has me hesitant on 03's, I'll def check about the VIN range though

 

What are you going to use the truck for?

 

At the moment, mainly a weekend car since I'll be driving my integra to work to save on gas with the whole commute to work, school and northern va traffic.

I do plan on trailing it eventually, but not right away...just casually though

 

Well I don't have one in the bad VIN range (thank God) but I really wish I would have gotten an '04 for the CDL. I bought a t-case from a '00 and was going to mate my '03 and the '00 and then have to get the linkage from an '04 still. Then I found out that LR had actually made small changes/updates to the LT230 every model year, so I certainly wanted the whole '04 setup. So now I am just going to get the t-case, linkage, shifter, and the pattern card from an '04 and swap it all.

If you plan on trailing this rig in the future you want to the '04. Other wise you basically have a glorified AWD, not a 4x4.... The CDL locks the front and rear drive shafts so that they spin together, turns off the traction control, and makes your truck a 4x4 (simple terms).

Before you buy a Disco; put up a link to it here, or photos, or at least a good description & price and maybe we can help with what its worth or if its a good buy.
