I changed the filter and fluid in my 2004 transmission (144k miles) and it went from working perfectly to slipping like crazy. Looks like I need a replacement.

If anyone has a lower mileage ZF 4-speed near northern Virginia, I'm in market for one.

Could this not be a problem with the fluid you chose? The scenario seems a bit too coincidental. I'm parting a 153k death VIN '03 with a shattered oil pump and may have the transmission available in the coming months.

 

It seems to be a common theme, replace old dirty fluid (i.e. lots of friction material) with clean fluid, and then it slips. I think the clutch packs are too worn for the new fluid.
The guy I bought the truck from lied about everything, so this is no surprise. This truck has become a black hole for my cash. No end in sight.
I may rebuild the one I have unless I can find a very low mileage unit.
