Default LR2 First Test Drive

YES, THEY ARE OUT!!!!!

I'm going to assume that since I have not seen anyone else post about it, I just took one of the first test drives in the country yesterday on the new LR2. My friend Jim Aldeyat Fremont Land Rover called me yesterday noon to tell me that they had just received 3 of them. When I got there, two of them were still being inspected but one was being detailed getting ready to make it's first run, which I was lucky enough to be a part of.
It appears that in base mode, sticker price is in the 34k bracket. Dressed up, is in the 41k bracket. Bottom line, pictures do it NO justice. It is simply beautiful !!! Interior details and controls remind me quite a bit of my LR3. The blood line is undeniable. While slightly smaller than the LR3, it does not ride like a small SUV. It has a large SUV feel to it's ride (ie comfortable) while somehow retaining a sense of sportiness in hard cornering. It is quite nimble and athletic. Makes the old Freelander look and feel like an SUV from another age. It is AWD rather than 4WD but with the Terrain Response it's supposed tobe able to tackle it's fair share of moderate off road surfaces. The interior is very comfortable for 5 adults and roomy. Cargo area is ample for an SUV of that size. The Volvoin-line 6 sounds sporty and moves the LR2 effortlessly from a stop. The tranny shifts are smooth and smart. I couldn't find anything I would complain about. I'm sure given time, I could find something but right now, I'd say go see them. They rock!!!
