Default Man I love my truck!

So my son's car broke down, it has been giving him fits for a couple of days now, today was the final straw.
Went to help him at a carpool lot.
Used the headlights on the truck for lighting, turned on the high beams.
Idled the truck for a hour, checked my scanner and the engine temp was a nice cool 196*F even after a hour of idle time.
Got back on the expressway and followed him the 20 miles home.
Man I love my truck.

Thumbs up

An event like that makes all those nights of greasy bruised knuckles, stubborn parts, cuts and backaches seem to make it all worth it doesn't it.

Yes, yes it does.
My truck is worth every scraped knuckle and drop of blood.
I would drive her to Alaska to see AK Rover tomorrow and not even think twice.

I understand Barrow has had it's annual Final Sunset -- yes, that made the news, all the way down here in Floriduh.

You that far up?

I'm about 1000 south of Barrow. I live in Soldotna which is 60 miles south of Anchorage by air or 150 miles by road. Our days get really short during the winter but since we're south of the Arctic Circle we still get day light. Right now we the sun comes up about 10am and has set by 5pm.

I have actually been further north than Barrow. I spent a year in Greenland. The sun set there in late October and didn't come up again until March.

I've been some pretty crappy places but I've also been to some nice places. After I left Greenland I went and worked in Guam for a few weeks. It was 90 degrees when I got to Guam in January. Fortunately I decided that tiny island living wasn't for me and returned home to Alaska before the super typhoon went through and tried to wipe Guam off the map.

Guam was actually the first place I drove a Land Rover. I test drove a brand new 2002 Freelander. Had I decided to stay in Guam I would have bought it. At the time I knew nothing about Rovers except the name and the reputation for off roading. Looking back now with the knowledge of Rovers I have now I'm glad I didn't buy it. I would have been wanting a Discovery instead.

When I was in Greenland and Guam I was working as an electronic technician at an Air Force satellite tracking stations. We were responsible for pulling data off the government's satellites and sending it to the user.
