Default 1968 LR 88 to keep original or???

Hello all, new member in colorado. Little back story, my Grandfather brought his 68 Land Rover back from England after being stationed there to Colorado. He passed away a couple years ago and my family has decided we want to get it running again and keep it in his honor.

it does have the original drivetrain but I know the front seats are different and it is painted a non traditional color. I am sure there are other things different.

we are at a crossroads. Finding information on it has been difficult and we are trying to figure out to either restore it back to original, or to make it a little more modern.

thinking a power train swap, going with either different axles or converting these over to disc brakes. Stuff like that.

before we start though, we don’t want to take something that may be worth saving as original and messing it up. What route would we go to figure out if it’s just anything special or just another rover.

thank you, I am excited to read through the forum and learn more about land rovers.

Up to you. My 64 Series IIA 88" is getting new frame, disco axles, coil spring suspension, power steering and complete new powertrain. It's all in what you want to spend and use it for.
