An absurd amount of exhaust is leaving my mechanics stumped
Hello all. I've had extensive work done on my Land Rover and my mechanics (who are very qualified) can't seem to figure out why we are getting so much exhaust smoke. I've had pistons changed...new injectors..new head gaskets etc...
Just curious if anyone has any idea what this could be? Please see attached video.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Steve

Diesel or petrol?
Basic rules of thumb...
Bluish smoke = fuel/air mixture wrong. Could be ignition timing, or carb fuel/air issue, or both. For diesel, over-rich is usually more blackish. Could be injector timing or worn injector pump dosing out fuel incorrectly.
White smoke = water in combustion chamber. Bad head gasket or cracked head. Look for bubbles/pressure build-up in radiator while engine is running. Also, oil in radiator and/or water in oil.
Capable mechanics should have no issue identifying the problem. Fixing it is another story, depending on what they find.
Good luck with it.

If the smoke is blue you likely need new valve seals.
If the smoke is black: Too much fuel, not enough air or timing with pump is wrong. Have you/they touched the injection pump?
I'm questioning your faith in your mechanics.
