Default Gears not engaging

Hi there. I have just purchased a 1968 88 and it's good...... Most of the time.

I have changed into reverse but then can not get into a forward gear - it's as thought there is no “gate” to slot into. I've depressed the clutch, released and tried again. I've gone from high range to low and tried again. Then back into high. All with no luck. I've switched off and on again, I can easily get into reverse and tried rolling back a bit in gear in the hope it triggers something.

Eventually, I can find a gear and once I'm moving it's fine, I can go through one to four and change down at will.

It's just that initial starting and it's not all the time.

Any thoughts?

Default 1962 LR II 88 - Won’t go into gear

Mine is doing exact same thing. Hope to see some feedback.

My pedal feels like it’s not “traveling” far enough to engage the clutch but I’ve only driven the LR approx 30 miles so that might be normal. When I depress the clutch pedal to the floor I can’t get it in any gear…not even reverse.

This might be where your problem lies. You may need to bleed the hydraulic clutch.

Default Peep hole

My 69 2a has a peep hole to the slave cylinder. I’m not sure if you can bleed it by using the peep hole. I removed the tunnel cover to do mine.

My 63 2A wasn’t difficult to get at from the bottom, laying on a creeper.
