Hi,

I'm new to this forum. My son and I we are rebuilding a LR series III from Spain. We are in The Netherlands, near Nijmegen. It is actually a LR built in Spain, so it is called a LR Santana series III. On some points it deviated from a standard LR series III. For example it has disk brakes in the front. We encountered a couple of issues for which we are seeking help from you.
This car is a 2.25 l Diesel, manufactured in 1979. It was in running order when we got it, albeit with a fair amount of smoke. It had quite a few dents. Gearbox and transmission did not reveal any major issues. Brakes needed serious attention. Looks like the brake fluid is never renewed. The cutch slave cylinder was full or rust and dirt. Even the front callipers were full of rust. So that all needs a serious overhaul. If there is anyone else with such a car, pls let us know. If only to make pictures just to compare.

Nice looking vehicle. Some of the Santana years (I think 1979 included) are considered to be better quality than the English built S3’s. Good luck with it.

I have a 1980 Santana 88", all drum brakes here. Mine smokes when first started, and it is definitely diesel smoke, and not engine oil burn-off... you can smell and taste it. It cleans up after a few minutes. A few pics of mine posted here-- https://landroverforums.com/forum/ap...24/#post773734
