Wakening this series 3, left to me by a late friend, from its slumber will be a new experience to me. When I read up on the engine it says "putting out 62 hp". Since it needs to be rebuilt, I´m contemplating an engine swap. Can it be done? If so which options are there? If recommendations are to keep and rebuild stock engine, which are the best ways to increase power?

With a little fabrication you could put just about anything in there.

 

I´m looking for the easiest/most common option. I´m not putting a V8 in there..I think.
