Default Removal Of Crossmember

For those of you who removed your cross member instead of adding spacers, I suggest you find spacers and re-fit the member.

I developed a nasty vibration after a recent off-road trip and could not find the source of it, until now.

Could this point to worn out motor mounts instead of the result of the crossmember being removed? I don't know how removing the crossmember could cause this.

I'm guessing you landed on your passenger side cat, or somewhere else on the exhaust that it tweaked the Y pipe.

That was my initial thought. I was under the truck today, jacked up on the engine to see if I could get movement. I didn't witness any. Went a step further had my dad in hit the accelerator and brake w/ the truck in reverse and again in drive at the same time to see if the engine would jump. I saw normal movement.

I must have. I used a hydraulic ram to push the cat back over and away from the shaft. I seems okay now.

I'll tell you what, going back to the bad motor mount; it did look like the whole motor was leaning to the passenger side. I was lying on my back looking up at the oil pan and it appeared to be leaning to the passenger side of the frame. Is this normal?

Here's a pic of the passenger side motor mount. Does it look bad?

I'm I missing a hunk of rubber from that mount????

Here's one from A.B.. Mine doesn't look quite like this one...

If it really was your crossmember then wouldn't that misshap with your cat and driveshaft signify that your entire frame has been bent in. i'm guessing it was not the crossmember. Or at least I hope it wasn't cause I chopped mine out a long long time ago.

That crossmember is NOT structural. I'm 100% certain. If that member is responsible for keeping our frames from twisting we have servere issues to worry about.

Okay. It appears I have a bad passenger side motor mount. Thanks, jafir. Thus, causing the engine to sit ****-eyed twisting the cat down and into the prop shaft.

I would still suggest adding spacers and installing the crossmember when you add a lift. But, I still probably won't do it. Hehe.
