Default cam bearing "really" ??!!!

I'm in the middle of a 2001 4.0 rebuild replacing a 4.6 in a 2003 Disco. We were pulling the cam and discovered a chip depression in the third bearing. My buddy who is an A&P Mechanic (airplane) and I starred at it for an hour! The fact that there isn't a mark on the cam or scratches to the side leaves us to believe that it has been there since day one.

So some line-worker actually installed this bearing!!! Shezzz!! Amazingly, it probably acted as an oil pocket and most likely helped the cam.

Crazy!!!cam bearing "really" ??!!!-img_1802.jpg
