Okay as I'm diving into a 4.6L rebuild (as soon as the HG kit and misc parts show up), and I've been looking into an alternate PCV vs that funky and inaccessible internal baffle in the passenger side valve cover.

I can't seem to find the post where someone mentioned cutting the original hose and adding an inline PCV. I'm just not sure if they removed that plastic baffle piece or not.

I found a FRAM FV308 that is a 1/4 thread base and I'm thinking we could thread it into the intake manifold in place of the 1/4 nipple and just attach the original hose.



Just an idea I was thinking of vs sticking with that brittle plastic baffle that gets brittle over time and is a PITA to gain access to.

I use the FRAM FV237 PCV and removed the plastic PCV. I’ve used this for over a year now.


Just cut the breather hose and insert the PCV between the 2 hoses. Add clamps to secure it in place.

Yeah thats the one I thought people used, just couldn’t find the old thread. Gonna get my hands on a FV308 and if that doesn’t seem like a good choice I’ll grab the FV237.

Okay well finding an FV308 was a bit of a PITA, but I eventually found one at Napa. Screws right into where the cheap plastic nipple on the intake goes that we all swap out for a metal one. Here are some pics of it & IMHO it looks OEM.



This is on the 4.6L that I’m rebuilding before I install it into my 04 D2. I have the plastic baffle removed and the Honda PCV installed in place of the OEM Plastic nipple/metal nipple that attaches to the intake. Cost of the FV308 was 6.50 out the door.

Yep several D2's I've owned or worked on have had the most band-aided Plastic Nipple jobs I've ever seen. One one so bad it required the intake to be removed so I could safely remove it without bits of crap going into the intake.

Usually you can hammer a flathead screwdriver into it and then twist it free, but sometimes it requires a bit more imagination.

I won't be firing up the 4.6L I installed the PCV onto, but I don't see any issues with it being installed with the OEM baffle plastic piece removed. It has to be better than that inaccessible setup!

If you want the PCV I used you'll need to look up a 1988 Honda Civic with the 1.5L 4cylinder engine. They'll show a plastic one sometimes, but if you get em to scroll down the FV308 unit will pop up.

Actually... I like your FV308 PCV mod better than my Fram FV237 PCV. lol

LoL I like it because of it's location, and leaving the OEM line intact. I'm all about improvements, but at the same time keeping it looking as OEM as possible.

Hmmm, most threaded pcv valves screw into the valve cover, not familiar with that part number but if you have it installed reverse it won't work correctly. Might want to check it...

Intake sucks air if I'm not mistaken. I sucked from the threaded side and it was free flowing. Blow from the threaded side and it closes.

That was part of the info from a thread I once saw that went adios into history. Let me know if my thinking is correct. On the 1988 Honda it mounts to the intake & not the valve cover from the info I saw.

If that is backwards then it's FV237 time lol.
