Every other vehicle on the planet runs a PCV, some more complicated than other but the factory LR baffle is a disaster. No adverse affects, stops not only valve cover leaks but front seal, intake, cam sensor, and others. This is what happens if you run with a plugged baffle.

Wow, that's nasty looking. Thanks for confirming that it works. That oil separator is a strange design choice for sure.

I did the mod. I was able to get both the plastic nipple and the brass post out with ease. I'm guessing since my Disco only has 83,000 on it, things aren't quite corroded in place yet. My oil separator was really clogged and I'm guessing that's why my valve covers have started sweating a little oil.

After doing the mod, no noticeable difference of any kind, which is a good thing.

One of my motivations for doing this is, I noticed a slight bit of oil consumption at high speed/rpm on road trips (1/4 quart for 800 miles, many mountain passes). My theory is, because pressure is building in the crank case, not only where gases blowing by the rings, but some oil as well in the higher RPM range (3-4k).

I'm hoping this modification solves that problem. I'm going to test it tomorrow as I head for the high country in AZ for a Land Rover Owners off road trip. Checked my level today and I'll check again tomorrow after all the mountain driving.

Thanks for the mod and great directions. I completed it yesterday for my '04. Fingers crossed it helps with my frame rust prevention system working too much.

I had a heck of a time getting the tube out of the cover. If I had it to do over again, I would listen to others and use more penetrating oil and let is sit overnight instead of being impatient. I got the Deutsch version (PCV147) and it treaded in just fine as expected. Great tip with the 13mm and extension to get it back in straight too.

With 79K miles the components coming out didn't look too bad but it's hard to tell when I had to drill it out.
