Default What is this plastic part that goes into water pump?

Does anyone know the part number for the small black plastic elbow that pushes into the fitting on the front of the water pump? I know a few people have broken theirs but have never see any orderable part number for it. Any help would be appreciated.

This one? I believe it’s listed as an oil cooler item.

Thanks but not the piece I am looking at. It is the small black plastic elbow that plugs into the front of the water pump. There have been numerous people who have broken it off when replacing the water pump but no one has posted the part number.

You are right, that is above it. I’ll look it up when I get to the shop.

Ok, that piece I showed goes from the oil cooler to the water pump at the back.

Sorry, just noticed you said front of waterpump. I’m an idiot.

just had to replace this part after my brittle elbow snapped as I was changing out the crossover pipe. Land Rover has changed the design of this bleeder to a two part solution (you can no longer buy the old version). There are two parts you now need to purchase.

LR049989
LR045238

Hopefully that helps.

No no idea why the design change but it’s a pain in the rear to get the new hose in without taking the crossover valve or the thermostat off. Trust me, I tried unsuccessfully. While you’re in there, I’d change out crossover valve, the oil cooler pipe, and water pump if they have not already been done. Doing everything is worthwhile and not a ton of additional effort involved.

Best of luck.

sschmerge, I see you haven't logged on in some time. Perhaps someone else could help me.

I too broke that plastic elbow while changing a water pump.
I ordered LR049989 and LR045238.
Since land rover changed the design, I'm confused on the hookups. The part LR045238 has a 'Y'. The ****** nipple on LR045238 is where the plastic elbow (and small hose) used to go, but now that's on LR049989. So, what goes on the barb of LR045238 now? Cap it?

Thanks for your help.

It’s capped already. Try to blow through it, nothing.

Unfortunately, that plastic elbow is not sold separately. It comes as a hose subassembly. The part is LR049990. I keep asking part companies to make them but no one has offered yet.
