new Defender, hum noise, above 110 klms
New Defender D300, 110 has a weird humming noise (deep windy sound, like blowing across a pan-flute) when travelling around 110klms per hour.
Not overly loud, but annoying.
A LR Roo bar and a Laser light strip, have been added post purchase by the dealership (Australia). Other optional extras not fitted yet.
and a small adjustment (under front bumper) to the winch-point access. opened it up a bit.
Anyone else experienced this ?
Grrrrrrrt vehicle - handling remote sand-beaches, gravel and incline/ decents ... v well.

new Defender hum noise
Hi Bruce - Thanks for responding. Appreciate.
Took LOTS of "trial and error" . (approx 24x early morning trips where we could do 110 klms)
FOUND the "hum" . Simple in hind-sight.
a) The Laser-Light track (18" long) fitted to the front BULL-BAR (LandRover fitted) needed to be adjusted. "Titled 'forward' (a couple of cmts) until the (pan-flute-ish) noise diminished.
b) Circular brackets (attaching the light-track to the Bull-bar) required a special heavy-duty rubber (about 1.5cmts thick, bought from an auto-electrician) - cut into strips + inserted between the bull-bar and the inner edge of the bracket (before re-tightening). This completely stopped the 'hum' from reasonating.
My husband has the patience of Job. Dealerships - often dont have the answers. To anyone out there with issues ? Do try try try again, yourSELF. Sometimes you get lucky.
Drove Fendy for 10,000klms before rectifying the 'hum' issue - seriously thought of selling it.
